H & E- The pineal gland is covered by a connective tissue capsule of Pia mater which forms incomplete trabeculae carrying blood vessels into the parenchyma. The parenchyma of the pineal gland consists of pinealocytes (chief cells), which predominate and glial cells characterized by small dark nuclei.
