SEM 12-5- Within the renal cortex occurs renal corpuscles one with and one without a glomerulus (G). The urinary pole (U), vascular pole (V), capsular space of Bowman (BS) and the luminal surface of the parietal epithelium (PE) are visible. Barely distinguishable are many elaborate glomerular epithelial cells (podocytes) sending their cytoplasmic processes around the underlying capillary loops. Note also the surrounding uriniferous tubule (T) and the adjacent capillary plexus (C).
