Financial Considerations
Orientation for Class of 2012, August 26, 2011
Tuition
The tuition rate for the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Program in the 2011-12 academic year is approximately $38,952 for two semeseters of full time enrollment. There is an additional charge for the 2 credits taken in the summer session ($1,623.00/credit hour). Full-time enrollment in most Graduate School programs is 12 credits per semester. Students enrolled for fewer than 12 credits per semester are charged on a per credit basis. The full cost of the program will vary, depending on number of semesters and credits enrolled in. The minimum enrollment period is two semesters and one summer session, with the 2 credit practicum during the summer. Summer session tuition is charged on a per credit basis, as noted above. No tuition waivers are available from the Department.
Please note that the summer tuition is additional and not included in the above figure.
Additional Expenses
Miscellaneous Fees: All full-time students at Georgetown University are required to pay an athletic facility fee; this is added onto your tuition bill. Students must show evidence of current health insurance or enroll in the GU student health plan at additional expense.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid for the CAM Program is available in the form of both federal and private loans. It is recommended that you begin the process of applying for financial aid as soon as possible. Unfortunately, no tuition waivers or grants are available from Georgetown University. However, the CAM Program has a limited number of merit-based partial scholarships. Admtted students are automatically under consideration for these awards, and no further application/information is required.
Financial aid for CAM Program students is taken care of through the Office of Student Financial Services on the Main Campus NOT the Medical School Financial Aid Office. If you applied to, and were wait-listed at, Georgetown University School of Medicine and filled out financial aid forms from the medical school, YOU MUST FILL OUT ADDITIONAL FORMS ON THE MAIN CAMPUS. It is important that you do so, otherwise your financial aid could be seriously delayed, resulting in you not receiving aid until October or later.
For more information on financial aid, and to obtain the appropriate forms to fill out, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services 202-687-4547.
