Prerequisites and general requirements
for the Physiology PhD Program
The minimum requirements and prerequisite courses for our PhD Program are:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with a grade point average above 3.0 (most students accepted to the Ph.D. program have a substantially higher GPA and GRE scores).
- 2 semesters each of general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology and physics. If you do not have these required courses, you may want to investigate a post-bacc program such as here at Georgetown.
- GRE scores averaging above 600. We will also consider MCAT scores of at least 28. A TOEFL score of 550 or better is required for foreign students; most successful applicants have TOEFL scores near or above 600. Interviews are usually required for Ph.D. applicants.
- Research experience is also strongly suggested. Our lab rotations begin immediately, and a solid to strong research background prior to entering the Program, is encouraged.
