Financial Assistance |
Georgetown University provides two types of financial assistance to prospective graduate students. The first type consists of scholarships, fellowships, and assistantships awarded through the Georgetown Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. These awards are made on the basis of merit. For more information, go to the Office of Student Financial Services web site.

The second type of assistance is need-based, federally financial aid in the form of various federal loan and employment aid programs, such as the Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Perkins Loan, and the Federal Work-Study program. The Georgetown University Office of Student Financial Services administers these need-based assistance programs and private loans offered by banks and other lending agencies.
There are also opportunities through the private sector
and through governmental agencies in the forms of scholarships,
such as through the Fulbright
Program, or through the Mellon
Fellowships Program. More information about these types
of opportunities are on the Georgetown
Scholarships and Fellowships web pages. Prospective
students are also encouraged to explore other funding opportunities,
such as through the National
Science Foundation's grants and awards.
Georgetown Graduate School applicants should submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and a Georgetown University Graduate Student Financial Services Supplemental Form. The forms can be completed online by accessing the graduate student section of the Office of Student Financial Services Web site at www.georgetown.edu/students/student-aid.
The Linguistics Department and the German Department both have web pages that list the scholarship and financial aid packages available through their programs. Click on the links below to find more information about these opportunities for financial support.
