Students at Georgetown have many opportunities throughout
the year to attend talks by cutting-edge researchers in
the field of SLA. Conferences are often held in the DC area
(e.g., AAAL
2008, the CBBC
annual workshop), and Georgetown University has hosted
GURT (the Georgetown University Round Table on Languages
and Linguistics) every year since 1948. In 2009, the theme
of GURT
will be "The implicit/explicit dichotomy in SLA
& Bilingualism: Conditions, processes, and knowledge".
Georgetown also regularly welcomes prominent speakers to
give talks on campus.
