The Department of Classics is dedicated to the study of the cultures of ancient Greece and Rome. A great diversity of liberal arts subject matter is included under the term "Classics," including literature, art, mythology, history, archaeology, philosophy, and religion. The department offers courses in these areas through the study of the classical languages of Latin and ancient Greek as well as in English translation. In cooperation with the School for Summer and Continuing Education, the
department runs a two week travel/study tour.
