The John Main Lecture Series presents: Robert Kiely, Ph.D. “Contemplation and the American Imagination: From Thoreau to Kerouac” Monday, September 29, 2008 Murray Room (541 Lauinger Library) Robert Kiely, Ph.D. is a research professor of English at Harvard University who has held several positions in academia including serving on the President’s Advisory Board, Weston School of Theology and the Board of Trustees, Georgetown University. He has lectured in China, Israel, the United Kingdom, and Italy. Professor Kiely has written several books including The Good Heart: the Dalai Lama Comments on the Gospels and Still Learning: Spiritual Sketches from a Professor’s Life. Among his many accomplishments, he served in the Naval Reserve from 1953 until 1956 and is currently a member of the Community of Sant’ Egidio. |
