Day 1: Friday June 6, 2008
Depart from USA for Europe. Air arrangements are on your own. Please do not purchase airfare until you are notified that the 27 passenger minimum has been attained. - Amsterdam
Day 2: Saturday June 7, 2008
Travel by own transportation to the hotel in Amsterdam. After check-in (early arrivals, store your luggage until rooms are available) the rest of the day is yours. Join in a late afternoon reception before enjoying a welcome dinner. Overnight in Amsterdam. (D)
Day 3: Sunday June 8, 2008
After breakfast, travel to Prinsengracht to visit the Anne Frank House. Walking with your escorts, Rev. Madden, and Dr. van Parys visithidden
Catholic churches, ending with a typical Dutch pancake lunch at the Pancake Factory. Afternoon includes a visit to the impressive Van Gogh museum viewing paintings and drawings by the artist Vincent Van Gogh. Finish with a visit to the Rijksmuseum, known for its exceptional collection of 15th and 17th century paintings. After dinner on your own in the Leidsesquare area, join a canal boat tour then back to the hotel. Overnight in Amsterdam. (CB, L) - Antwerp/Bruges
Day 4: Monday June 9, 2008
Check out of hotel after breakfast and travel by private motorcoach to Antwerp, the center of fashion for the Low Countries. Enjoy an orientation tour including a visit to the Cathedral of Our Lady, the largest in Belgium, and the most admirable of all Antwerp's buildings. There are many works by Rubens to admire. Visit the majestic Antwerp City Hall the city square. Travel to Bruges where you have dinner on your own. Overnight in Bruges. (CB, L) - Bruges
Day 5: Tuesday June 10, 2008
Transfer to Ghent, the spiritual citadel of Flanders. Visit the St. Bavo Cathedral with the polyptych of the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb painted by the brothers van Eyck. Tour the city to see St. Michael's Bridge, the three Beguinages of Ghent as well as the many churches among which the Saint-Jacobs church and the Saint-Nicolas church are the most beautiful examples. Return to Bruges by motorcoach for dinner on your own. Overnight in Bruges. (CB, L)
Day 6: Wednesday June 11, 2008
Meet the local guide for a walking tour through the picturesque center of Bruges and discover the Beguinage, Our Lady Church with a statue by Michelangelo, the Lake of Love and many other medieval sights. Afternoon is at your leisure. Take time to visit the many Belgian lace and chocolate shops in town or visit one of the museums like the Gruuthuse Museum. Enjoy dinner in the pretty little town of Damme. After dinner transfer back to Bruges. Overnight in Bruges. (CB, D) - Brussels/Louvain
Day 7: Thursday June 12, 2008
After breakfast check out and travel by private coach to Brussels, the capital of Europe. Tour the city by bus and on foot to see highlights of the city such as Atomium, the Royal Palace, the most beautiful square in Europe, the magnificent gothic town hall, the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudule and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts. Travel by private motorcoach to Louvain, situated on the banks of the River Dijle. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Louvain. (CB, L) - Louvain
Day 8: Friday June 13, 2008
All sightseeing today is on foot. Meet the local guide for a walking tour of the city center, including a visit to St. Peter Collegial Church and the Beguinage, the largest convent in Belgium. Visit The American College, a seminary founded in 1857 by the bishops of the United States. Afternoon at leisure to wander around the city and do some last minute shopping and sightseeing. Enjoy a farewell dinner together in one of the local restaurants. Overnight in Louvain. (CB, D) - Return to USA
Day 9: Saturday June 14, 2008
After breakfast, transfer to Brussels airport on your own for your flight back home. (Flight arrangements on your own) - CB = Continental Breakfast L = Lunch D = Dinner
