Many "outside" organizations offer financial support for undergraduate
and graduate study. Some of these organizations include businesses, churches,
clubs, and more. Be creative and start your outside scholarship search today!
Caution About Outside Scholarship Search Offers
You may be solicited by a scholarship search company offering to help you find
awards. We strongly urge you to check any company with the Better Business
Bureau, and we advise against using any company that requires a payment from you
to do a search. Georgetown University does not sell or provide names to any
company for this purpose. We urge you to be cautious about sending personal
financial information to any organization sending unsolicited direct mail
marketing materials to you. Be cautious of scholarship search firms that include
any of these elements:
- a fee is required
- money back guarantee
- credit card or bank account information is required
- offer exclusive information
- promise cash if you pay a registration fee
- pay a fee and they guarantee you will win awards
- pay a fee and receive a low interest rate education loan
- promise to replace loans with a grant if you pay a processing fee

Federal Trade Commission’s website.
