Minimum QPI The Office of Student Financial Services monitors academic progress for students receiving financial aid. To maintain eligibility for federal financial aid, you must maintain a cumulative QPI of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00. In addition, you must comply with the academic performance standards of both the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and your department or program. Satisfactory Academic Progress Students admitted to a master's degree program are allowed three years from the date of initial matriculation to complete all requirements for the degree. Students admitted to a doctoral program who already have a master's degree in the same field, or who have been granted advanced standing equivalent to a master's degree in the same field, are allowed five years from matriculation to complete all degree requirements. Those admitted to a doctoral program with a bachelor's degree only are allowed seven years from matriculation to complete all degree requirements. Part Time Students Part time students are subject to the same time limits for completing Graduate School degrees as full time students. Aid May be Revoked Students in academic difficulty at the end of any semester are expected to improve their academic progress in the following semester. The Office of Student Financial Services may revoke the federal financial aid funding of a student who fails to meet the academic progress standards outlined above. Exceptions The above periods may be extended within the policy of satisfactory progress for graduate students approved by the Graduate School and outlined in the Graduate Bulletin. Academic Probation/Suspension Students who have been suspended from the University for academic reasons and wish to return to the University must reapply for financial aid. University standards for academic suspension and dismissal appear in the Graduate Bulletin. |
