Delivery of Funds

What You Must Do

To obtain the funds offered in your award letter you may be required to take certain additional actions after accepting your award; details are provided in the applicable program sections of this website. For example, if your award letter indicates you are eligible for a Federal Stafford Loan, there are several additional steps you must complete to obtain loan proceeds from this federal program.

Timing of Payments

It can take up to six weeks to apply for and receive disbursements under some financial aid programs, so you should plan to arrive in Washington with sufficient funds to pay for at least two months' living expenses.

Tracking Delivery

If you accept the aid offered to you, the Office of Student Financial Services will monitor the disbursement of the funds you accepted and will attempt to notify you by U.S. or electronic mail if you have not completed all requirements for disbursement of the funds you are eligible to receive. In addition, you should review your student billing account on a regular basis to track financial aid disbursements, and contact your Student Financial Services Counselor if you have any questions.
